Exhibitions
BANANA SHED |
MontanaJO ELLIS | 1 December – 28 January
Jo’s exhibition consists mainly of ink works, focusing on mountainous abstracted landscapes, from the familiar Mt Cooroora to further afield and imaged.
Montane (mountain) ecosystems exist as part of the beautiful Noosa Hinterland landscape. Jo’s exhibition is motivated by her belief that “the survival of the flora and fauna can be improved through the ways we interact with the mountains – ensuring we reduce the spread of weeds, gentle appreciation of the trails over and around the mountains, education regarding the importance of the habitat or just the opportunity for quiet reflection in the shadow of these outcrops." |
CARRIAGE ROOM |
Landscapes of MemoryJASON WHITEMAN & TRISH MENZIES | 10 January – 4 February
Jason Whiteman and Trish Menzies share a love of landscape painting, largely inspired by their respective travel journeys over the years, in Australia and overseas.
Both originally from New Zealand (which inspires a lot of Trish’s work), both Trish and Jason strive to inspire in the viewer the same emotive experience a landscape or seascape brought to each of them at the particular locations. Jason’s work is often inspired by a period living on the Mornington Peninsula (Vic).“Each painting becomes a record of that memory – not a photo realistic representation, but an impressionist essence of the emotional response that the sense of a place can bring,” Trish says. Jason and Trish are both active members of the Tinbeerwah Art Group, and shared Jason’s studio in the 2025 Noosa Open Studios art trail.Landscapes of Memory is their first (shared) exhibition at Pomona Railway Station Gallery, and Trish’s second exhibition there following her successful Essences of Landscape exhibit. |
THE SIGNAL ROOM |
3D Artist of the MonthTONI MARIE BIELBY | January
Toni Marie Bielby's specialty is making sculptures of people's precious pooches.
Over the past 35 years, she has beautifully captured other animals and birds as well. However, at 17 and while still at school she created a sculpture of her Dad's chihuahua (that had recently passed away) as his Christmas present. Immortalising in clay people's departed or older dogs she says is quite an emotional journey, where she experiences a love/hate relationship with the clay to get the truest likeness in the sculpture. Toni Marie has recently exhibited at the Institute of Art, Brisbane, and in a bird exhibition at Logal Regional Art Gallery. |
